IC SECTION
Name: Megatron
Canon: Transformers Prime
Canon point: Right after his death at the hands of Bumblebee in the series finale.
Appearance:
Robot mode, Jet mode
Age:OLD AS BALLS Several million, at least.
Gender: Male
Personality:
Megatron as he stands in the Prime series is controlling, delusional, and tyrannical. This combination does not a stable leader make, and it's all been hammered into him after thousands of years of warmongering.
Once upon a time, he stood for equality under the name Megatronus. He encouraged others in his position to rise up for change in a society that did not grant them freedom or autonomy, against a council that allowed corruption to spread through the ruling class - even touching the spark of one named Orion Pax (later to become Optimus Prime). As such, Megatron was once a natural leader, and none would claim Megatron's charisma was anything but inspiring even now - especially since he's armed with a fusion cannon and certainly knows how to use it.
However, he is prone to taking far heavier steps for change than others may be prepared for, evidenced by the way he stood up to the council and boldly dared to name himself the next Prime after a bold threat to overthrow them. This rashness means he will gladly launch himself into battle against anyone who would dare to stand against him, whether or not it's a particularly calculated risk. There is, after all, very little for a giant robot tyrant to fear.
He has a penchant for violence, a strong leftover from his days as a gladiator of Kaon; even with his cannon disabled, he will happily draw a blade and leap into battle personally if the chance arises. He seems to take a deep sense of glory from his victories, and as dark and twisted as his motives have become through the war for Cybertron, he remains an excellent fighter and tactician - when he's not led astray by a perceived chance at absolute power. Megatron will stop at nothing to gain the edge against his enemies, and as evidenced by his dabbling with Dark Energon and pacts with Unicron (basically Robot Satan) himself, this can lead to his downfall.
Perhaps due to years of conquest and the knowledge that perhaps a nigh-infinite number of people want him dead, or perhaps due to the blatant and repeated dethroning and/or murder attempts by his own second-in-command, Megatron is intensely paranoid. While some precarious, deeply-buried code of honour may prevent him from taking action until a suspicion is mostly confirmed (or severely exacerbated by others egging him on), Megatron is unlikely to be surprised by betrayal, and any attempt at catching him unawares (especially face-to-face) seems unlikely to bear fruit. Most of his paranoia in-canon, however, was abated by the presence of Soundwave; his communications officer was not only his most loyal soldier, but also perhaps the most useful source of information on everything from his enemies to his underlings. Without Soundwave to confirm or nullify his suspicions, Megatron is likely to be even more on edge and intensely paranoid than usual.
Megatron also very self-righteous, with a fairly delusional-tier confidence in his own abilities and leadership; over the years, the term "might makes right" has become an unwitting part of his beliefs, despite his original ideals being against the idea of tyranny. It's his way or the highway, and if you pick the highway he'll probably call for a fly-by dispatch so you can't challenge him again. There is only one real enemy Megatron would ever have considered leaving alive, and that ship sailed when Orion Pax contradicted him in front of the High Council.
Despite his violent nature and the level of threat an encounter with Megatron usually entails, it cannot be said that the warlord does not have a sense of humour. It's just a little... skewed, is all. Still, a well-placed piece of humour that he morally agrees with will often get a smirk out of him - for example, making a cruel joke at his enemies' expense, or the expense of anybody he doesn't like. He also has his own dry brand of humour, rarely dispensed and even more rarely picked up on in any conscious fashion. After all, it's hard to imagine him cracking a joke - even if he does, it's likely to be subtle enough to go almost unnoticed. Or at least highly suspected.
History: Wiki page
Aspirations: In his earlier days, Megatron wished for equality and the freedom to make one's own choices. Now, he wishes for power and revenge - in whatever forms they may take.
Fears: Despite his warped goals, Megatron still fears the idea of having his freedom stripped away. Having power over others is a perk, but it's one that really stems from what the point of all this was; autonomy is still important to him. In short, being powerless doesn't scare him so much (or so he will claim) - but being willpowerless might be the one thing that could bring Megatron to his knees.
Inventory: A fusion cannon on one arm; his built-in gladiator blade (which 'unsheathes' by transforming from his hand); his jet altmode, plus its lesser energy cannons. All pretty much nerfed against Freesia's newcomers and citizens.
Magic: Earth
Reason: Megatron is a towering, earthshaking giant robot already. Also, Dark Energon could be argued to be a mineral, and he has a shard of it lodged in his spark and more of it running through his system - it fits pretty well and ties his magic in to his will for control since he used to use the Dark Energon to control zombie legions. While that won't work here, controlling the ground on which he walks is the next best thing, kind of?
RP samples: here & here & a paragraph...
If he were the type, perhaps the thirty-something foot tall Cybertronian would consider the rain poignant. It had clouded over a few minutes after he woke, on his back, in a field.
Megatron was not the type.
He dug his joints into the mud, pushed himself into a sitting position and then heaved himself to his feet, and grasped at his chest. When his optics confirmed what his claws told him - that there was no sword there, and no evidence there ever had been - he merely raised one eyebrow and turned his attention to his surroundings.
It looked to be a human city of some kind, and yet this place felt distinctly off. That, or the lack of a dark pulse in his spark was throwing him for a loop more than he was registering. Unicron was not somewhere beneath his feet, and thus: this was not Earth. The war leader gave a faint grunt of acknowledgement for this fact, and turned slowly by degrees to survey the rest of the landscape. Some kind of a direction would be welcome. He remembered his brief meeting with this world's strange liaison, as if in a dream, but little of what had been said interested him.
Megatron did, however, know a mine when he saw one. A short walk and a muddy, thunderous slide down the side of the mine later, and Megatron found what he was looking for. The strange being had promised he would be provided for, and Megatron eyed the lump of unrefined energon carefully before plucking it from the cliff face and examining it properly. There would be more, then.
Here was a good place to start.
Notes: He's approximately 10.5 metres tall, or about 35 feet, according to this chart someone made.
Also, he still has Dark Energon running through him - but now it'll register as just a combo of weird minerals with a weird aura and nothing else, since he's cut off from Unicron in this dimension. No dead-raising powers, no nothin'. Just some bad mojo.
